I’m Blaze Martel, an emerging author living off-grid in the Canadian wilderness.
I'm a novelist, historian, and lifelong practitioner of the art of being strong. I worked as a professional dominatrix to pay for my university degree in mathematics, and have earned black belts in both full contact Karate and combat Jujitsu,
I enjoy the intersection of physical power and gender politics, so when I'm not at my desk crafting stories of powerful women discovering themselves via the wimpy men in their life, I can be found in a weight room, bodybuilding.
I don't write about "strong female characters." my writing is far more subversive. Some find it dark and gritty, while others tell me it pushes the limits of "romance" into uncharted territory.
My writing is informed by the "Truth of Combat"—the cold, kinetic reality that while strength is an undeniable fact that transcends social decorum, sufficient skill can make anyone dangerous, and power must be accompanied by responsibility to keep it away from evil.
My writing explores the complex dynamics of power, why it is made stronger by vulnerability, and how weakness is often a form of strength. I draw on my experience in strength and combat sports to describe the reality of dominance, stripping away pretensions to expose the visceral bonds that form when a willing spirit encounters an undeniably powerful physical reality. And how the physically stronger of the two is often actually weaker.

Read about dangerous women who occupy space, don't need men in their life because they claim their own agency by sheer force of their own existence, and the men who are wise enough to earn their hearts forever by affirming them.
If by the end of my novels you cannot decide who was stronger and who was more vulnerable, the alpha-female heroine, or the wimpy man who she tolerates long enough for him to change her, then I have succeeded. And if you are still having that debate with your friends weeks after you finished reading my book, then we both have triumphed.
